Beret-ed by Beret's

As I mentioned this new kitting addiction started with a gift of a knitted beret, which led me to finding patterns for a gorgeous beret. I thought about crocheting one, but I have always found 2 needles easier than 1 as they tend to fall off less frequently and I drop less stitches when I am knitting.
The hat that started it all!

So I started my hunt for a pattern found a bunch and have knitted a few, 2 turned out TINY, as in almost too small for a baby  to wear, the rest were  a pleasure to  knit and look gorgeous, and one of the tiny ones I  did re-knit and it  is  now perfect and ready for wrapping to give to a good friend of  mine.
Tiny Hat #1
Tiny Hat #2
Perfect!
I think when it comes to these they are nice to knit because of the fact that they are a quick knit, look gorgeous and can really add a statement to your winter wardrobe. I think my favourites are ones that are a bit lacy. When I started I thought I would want to cable knit them but cables are just make work projects, but lacy ones you do a yarn over and it takes up space all on its own. Genius.

So there you have it, my complete collection of knitted hats. I have missed 2 out, just because they did not quite turn out the way I anticipated they would, shame really, but it only means that I get to try the patterns again and hope for success.

If you are going to start knitting hats get some 16" circular needles, knitting hats, for me, on DPN's is not worth the aggravation, and when you switch to DPN's finish the project at the time you switch over, you can probably tell I am not into DPN's. I will use them when I need to but they are not worth it for me, I will never be a sock knitter.

Colour Work Tardi

Finally, the fruits of some of my labours! The fabulous Tarids Hat:
By the way, this picture in no way does the hat overall justice but I am working on  re-working the pattern to make it four  sided and not  just two sided.

Also at the same time I am  working on a Tardis Scarf, these are Christmas presents, for friends that love the wonderful Doctor Who.
Both  of  these are my first colour  work projects so  they are a little loose, but after I  weave in the ends and block I think we will be good to go. All I have left now to do on the scarf is the other Tardis. I am hoping for completion this weekend.
Of  course as soon as I showed these two items to a couple of  people I then got roped into making a couple more. Before I start  though  I am going to do  the odd pattern tweak which  I think will improve the knitting process and make the recipients even more pleased to receive them.

Why the Hold Up?

Well let me tell  you, I wrote my first post, really excited  that I was going to be able to  make this work. I still do  plan on posting,  but my main problem is that a picture is worth a thousand words and I cannot get my  pictures to load into my blog. I have around 4 posts waiting there ready to go but  the pictures are doing their  own thing. Also I am under such a tight schedule right now to get a couple of projects done that I am really focused on that.

Other than that I have no other explanations  as to what is going on. On the other hand I can  show you my nails at the moment:

This is a bundle monster plate that  I  got  recently, no different from  the Konad really,  but  the smell of their nail polish gives me a headache, so I just make sure to use thicker  nail polish when stamping. Anyone have any great ideas on perfecting the nail stamping process?

What to do?

It has been ages since typing into a blog appealed to me, my first blog was a bad excuse for what I thought was a great idea. Anyway enough said about that.
If anyone out there knows me I am a great project starter, finishing them is a different story. Although I do manage to buckle down and get things done if I have a goal. I also tend to change what I am up to quite frequently, I think it is just because I get bored fairly easily, the other reason is because if I sit down to watch a movie, TV show etc... I tend to fall asleep, unless I am doing something with my hands.
So what I am hoping is that my documenting my projects I will become more accountable for them.
First I am going to start with a list of what I tend to get myself up to:
  • Bead Weaving
  • Knitting
  • Making Glass Beads
  • Crocheting (really simple things)
  • Bits of cross stitch
  • Nail painting
  • Baking
  • Henna
  • Origami
  • Reading (not crafty but you know its something I do)
  • and my Art
Yes I do also have a full time job and that keeps me busy as well, and really I would say in no way relates to any of the above categories.

Currently I am on a knitting kick, I completed my first blanket in about 6 years in 72 hours, there was a baby shower underway and it turned out beautifully. I am currently working on Christmas presents and I would say that I am about 50% done all the ones I had to do, so go me! I also have 3 more baby blankets to do that I need to send to England, thank goodness for the coming long weekend, I will sit and knit all day long, every chance I get, every moment of every day.

Yes soon I will have some pictures up and going but I have recently only had my phone with which to take pictures, but my camera has been located (phew) and I will start again ASAP.
